Futures Program provides case management support for at-risk kids seeking help in preparing for employment, increasing their earned income, completing high school, and participating in long-term career goal planning. Our Futures Program partners with Duluth Public Schools, local business leaders, area employers, and job training programs (Duluth Workforce Center, Lake Superior College, etc.) to create education and entry-level employment opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-20 in the Duluth community.

School Outside of School (S.O.S.) began in 2005, helping at-risk kids to reconnect with adult support by attending basic academic and life skills classes taught daily at our Youth Center. Life House Case Managers and community volunteers teach S.O.S. classes in a positive, "peer support" group setting. By introducing our programs in person, at-risk and homeless students hesitant to request services are more likely to get connected, and overcome barriers toward achieving self-sufficiency.

Futures Education & Employment Program

• is available by drop-in or referral Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm
• offers "one-on-one" case management services for low-income youth ages 16-20 seeking help with education and employment goals
• has school and/or work supplies available, including I.D.'s and birth certificates
• provides direct employment assistance including job training, job placement, and transportation assistance
• instructs weekly "Possibilities" career exploration classes held on-site in our Youth Center, available for high school credit
• offers on-site tutoring, and help with school enrollment including high school, work training programs, and college
