Health Services
KATS (Kids to Adults Transition Services) Health Program provides on-site licensed counseling services and connection to community health resources, including help with obtaining health insurance, hospital care, and in-patient / out-patient treatment. In partnership with the Human Development Center, our KATS Counselor offers individual health needs assessments, goal planning, and follow-through support for at-risk youth ages 16-20 seeking help in achieving positive health goals.
By providing personal health needs assessments and follow-through support for at-risk youth, our KATS Program increases the quality of life for severely disadvantaged members of our community. Advocacy and connection to essential health services including medical assistance, primary and preventive health care, and substance abuse programs ensure lasting, healthy lifestyle changes for kids on street.
life house - Health Program
- is available by drop-in or referral Monday through Thursday, 9am - 6pm
- provides "one-on-one" support for low-income youth ages 16-20 seeking help in achieving positive health goals
- offers access to community health resources, including mental health and/or chemical dependency programs
- provides recovery from abuse, including help filing an Order for Protection (O.F.P.) and therapy referrals
- instructs weekly positive health "Wellness" classes held on-site in our Youth Center, available for high school credit
- offers help with applying for assistance programs, including health care and Social Security Income
